Guide For First Time Parents
Monitors
All the info you need

Monitors give you the ability to be in two places at once; in the kitchen after baby’s bedtime or in the bedroom catching up on a little reading. Take your monitor with you and you’ll be able to hear what is happening with your little one.

Price points reflect the technology and features you will use with each monitor. You can purchase monitors that operate on various frequencies such as 49MHz, 900MHz, 2.4GHz and 5.8GHz. One isn’t really better than another- it just depends on what other appliances, computers or phones you are using in your house. For instance, if you have a 900MHz phone and a 900MHz baby monitor, you may have interference issues. Or if you have a wireless network installed in your home, your 2.4GHz baby monitor may have some static. You should identify what electronics you use in your home before purchasing your baby monitor. This will provide you the best clarity of audio in your home.

Overall, the best technology available today is DIGITAL. In most circumstances, you will not have any of the interference or static issues mentioned earlier. Digital technology uses a coded signal which can only be decoded from the nursery unit to the parent unit. You will have complete privacy and not have to listen in on your neighbor’s conversations again. And they won’t be able to listen to you! If clarity and privacy are important to you; make sure to purchase a digital monitor.

Video monitors allow you to see into the nursery; without actually walking in. This can be a great way to not disturb your baby, but keep a close tab on her. Graco® video monitors offer infrared night vision, so you can even see in the dark. It’s like practically peering over the crib rail from the convenience of anywhere in your home.

Additional features on baby monitors include a nightlight, docking stations for charging, rechargeable batteries and parent unit finder features. With all of these great features to pick from, choosing a baby monitor can be exciting and tailored to fit you and your family’s lifestyle!
